About Optimal Mental Health:

Meet the provider, Brooke Frederick-Baca.

Brooke’s background includes a Bachelor of Science in Genetics, Cell, and Developmental Biology, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Brooke is a current Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) candidate and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) intern in her final year of residency at the University of Arizona. She is prepared to graduate in 2025, at which point she will be fully licensed to prescribe medication independently. Brooke is also certified as a Behavioral Health Coach (CBHC).

Brooke's extensive experience in psychiatric nursing, behavioral health coaching, and genetic consulting allows her to offer unique insights into the treatment of psychiatric conditions. She currently provides genetic consultation services relevant to psychiatry and performs ketamine infusion treatments under the supervision of an overseeing, collaborating provider. Her expertise includes the interpretation and consultation of CYP450 genotypes and phenotypes, offering personalized medication recommendations to optimize treatment outcomes and mitigate harm. She also facilitates behavioral health and wellness coaching, both one and one and in group settings.

Brooke’s approach is therapeutic, empathetic, and grounded in trauma-informed care. She recognizes the impact of sanism and mentalism in society and is committed to providing DEI-affirming services with a non-judgmental and culturally sensitive approach. Brooke is a provider who is representative of the population she serves and is a first-year recipient of the Advanced Nursing Education Workforce (ANEW) grant, which aims to increase the representation of providers with diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds as well as underrepresented minorities in the nursing profession.
